Doubt, A Parable
DOUBT, A PARABLE
by John Patrick Shanley
DOUBT, A PARABLE IS PLAYING JUNE 5-7 & 12-14, 2025 AT KING STREET THEATRE
Set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt, A Parable explores morality, authority, and the ambiguity of truth.
When strict principal Sister Aloysius suspects charismatic Father Flynn of inappropriate behavior toward Donald Muller, the school’s first Black student, she launches a crusade to expose him despite lacking proof. Caught in the conflict, kind-hearted Sister James grapples with her faith in others, while Donald’s pragmatic mother, Mrs. Muller, prioritizes her son’s well-being above all else.
Through sharp dialogue and tense confrontations, the play masterfully examines the gray areas of certainty, justice, and trust, leaving audiences questioning where the truth lies.
