On November 16-18, 2023, Swamp Rat Experience and Keyano Theatre presented the iconic Broadway show RENT by Jonathan Larson, Directed by Zachary Barrett with Jenny Price as Music Director. This award-winning musical had taken the world by storm when it first opened in the mid-1990s, inspiring audiences to choose love over fear and to live without regret.
Set in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the story followed a group of friends in Manhattan’s East Village as they fought to build the lives of their dreams. RENT resonated with anyone who had ever struggled with life, love, and everything in between. This rock opera pulled at the heartstrings to tell the tale of friends who grappled with addiction, eviction, sexual identity, parental conflict, materialism, and the yearning to leave a meaningful legacy.
