2024 AGM Welcomes New Board Members
After a successful AGM held at King Street Theatre on August 14, Swamp Rat Experience is thrilled to welcome our new Board Directors Andrew Williams, Chané Nel, Jenny Price, Rhonda Robinson and Stacey Grant. They join the continuing Board Directors Ashley Makey, Becky Fadden, Christopher Bowers, Dylan Thomas-Bouchier, Michelle Landsiedel and Zenon Campbell, and SRE volunteer management team Hanna Fridhed and Kayla Erlandson.

2023 was marked by several significant milestones and we proud to say that Swamp Rat Experience continues to learn as we grow together. This was the year we moved into our new home at King Street Theatre, a wonderful partnership with Fort McMurray Composite High School.
One of our most notable accomplishments was the successful production of Broadway hit musical RENT, which saw a fantastic turnout of emerging artists and reached an appreciative audience. We hosted several workshops and master classes that provided valuable learning opportunities for aspiring artists. We launched Theatre Club, a new program tailored for youth interested in exploring the world of theatre. Through Theatre Club, we have successfully engaged a new generation of artists and provided them with a platform to express their creativity.
Our commitment to community engagement was evident in the various outreach programs and collaborative projects we undertook last year. By actively involving the local community in our activities, we have created a more inclusive and welcoming space for theatre enthusiasts of all backgrounds.
In 2023, our overarching goal was to engage new artists, create safe and inclusive spaces for theatre creation and development, and grow the theatre community. I am delighted to report that we not only met but surpassed our goals and expectations, thanks to the hard work and innovative spirit of everyone involved in Swamp Rat Experience.
As we look ahead to the coming year, we remain dedicated to promoting artistic innovation, fostering creativity, and expanding opportunities for individuals to participate in the performing arts. My deepest gratitude to everyone who made the successes and learning experiences of 2023 possible; I can’t wait to see what we create in the future!
