Swamp Rat Experience Sponsors Local Youth to Attend Theatre Alberta's Artstrek

Swamp Rat Experience is pleased to announce its sponsorship of local youth, Hannah Wood, to attend Theatre Alberta's Artstrek, a transformative summer theatre school for teens! This sponsorship, the first of its kind for the company, is part of SRE’s ongoing commitment to supporting arts education and nurturing young talent in the RMWB.

Artstrek, organized by Theatre Alberta, offers an exceptional learning opportunity for teenagers passionate about theatre. The program provides participants with professional training from practicing artists and educators in a collaborative and immersive environment. Through a range of daily classes, including Acting, Devising, Design, Voice & Singing, and Movement & Dance, students are exposed to various aspects of theatre and encouraged to explore their creativity.

Unlike many other programs, Artstrek is not audition-based, ensuring that every student, regardless of their experience or background, can participate and contribute equally. The emphasis is on fostering a sense of creative exploration and personal growth among the students. By embracing the creative process and engaging with their peers and mentors, participants develop not only valuable theatrical skills but also lasting relationships and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

SRE’s sponsorship of a local youth to attend Artstrek reflects their dedication to supporting the next generation of artists in our community. Through this sponsorship, Swamp Rat Experience is enabling a deserving young person to access this enriching and transformative experience, opening doors to new possibilities and expanding their artistic horizons.

Hannah will join a diverse and supportive community of fellow theatre enthusiasts at Artstrek, where they will receive guidance from experienced artists and educators. This opportunity will undoubtedly serve as a launching pad for their artistic journey, equipping them with invaluable skills and experiences that will shape their future endeavors.

Artstrek will be running from July 16 – 29, 2023 at Red Deer Polytechnic.
